Child Protection Society (CPS) was established in 1957 with the main goal of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children. Since its formation, the organization has played an important role in protecting vulnerable children and supporting their development in safe and caring environments.
Over the years, the society has expanded its work to respond to various social challenges affecting children. For example, in 2019, it actively participated in responding to the effects of Cyclone Idai, providing support and assistance to affected children and families during the disaster.
The Child Protection Society also runs child fostering programs, which help provide stable and loving homes for children who cannot stay with their biological families. These programs aim to ensure that children grow up in safe and supportive environments.
Currently, the organization is working in partnership with the Government of Zimbabwe to implement the STELA programme, which focuses on improving the well-being and protection of children.
In addition, the society operates a children’s home known as Chinyaradzo Children’s Home, located in Highfield. This home provides care and support for children in need, ensuring they receive shelter, education, and emotional support.
The organization is also involved in apprenticeship programs, which equip young people with practical skills to help them become self-reliant and prepare for future employment.
